AYODHYA – RAMA JANMA KSHETRA OR RAMA JANMA BHOOMI

Its old name is Saketa. Faizabad is its current name. The holy city of Ayodhya stands on the right bank of the river Sarayu (Ghagra). It is described according to Skanda Purana as the city of Vishnu in the shape of fish. In Ayodhya there are a number of temples. They are :-

2. Guptar Ghat {11 km } hindi mahakavi Tulasidas wrote his memorable and famous work “Rama Charita Manasa”there.

2. KAASHI { VARANASI or BANARAS }-CAPITAL OF HINDU FAITH
It is described as the city of light, the thirthas of thirthas ,a living text of the world, mukthi bhoomi, maha kshetra, the city of Shiva. It is a parama vaishnava kshetra due to the presence of ‘Bindhu Madhava’ and Vishnupadi. He is the kshethra pala of the place.

4. NAIMISHARANYA (Nimisar – Mishrik) – Dadhichi Kshetra ( UTTARA PRADESH )
This holy place is on the left bank of the river Gomati where there were Nimisha Trees in plenty. It is here that Sootha Puranikas had taught Bhavathadi puranas to thousands of Rishis including Shounkadi Muni. Here God is said to be in the form of forest (source: devi purana). The procedure is to have a bath in Chakra thirtha first and then in the Gomati and then worship the forest (Aranya).

It is a pavithra kshetra where Shuka Muni preached about Srimad Bhagavatha to Parakshit Maharaja locally popular as Shukrataal . It is on the banks of river Ganga . In Shukratal there is a very old and short Vata Vruksha. It is said Shuka Muni was sitting under this tree when he spoke about the Srimad Bhagavatha.

6. SHAMBAL ( uttar pradesh )

It is near Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh. It is 90 kms away from Delhi. Vishnu’s last Incarnation as Kalki Avatara will happen here at the end of Kaliyug. Here 68 thirthas and future Ganga is there.

7. MATHURA (Peacock City)
It is the cradle of the Hindu religion, the birth place of Lord Krishna. It is the spot with which his sacred legends are connected. It is described as one of the Mokshadayak Kshetras on the right bank of River Yamuna.

This place is intricately woven with the playful pranks of Lord Krishna who used to play the flute, tease the village maidens, and made peacock dance. Sri Ranganatha Temple is also famous here.

It is here that Lord Krishna was secretly brought up in the home of Yashoda.

c) Govardhana Parvat – 36 kms from Mathura and 14 kms from Barsana
It is a hill on the bank of river Yamuna. It is believed to be Vishnuroopa. Here lord Krishna protected the people from Indira (god of rain and thunder) holding aloft the hilltops as an umbrella over the people for seven days balancing it on top of his little finger.

d) Nandagoan – 56 kms from Mathura
Rangeli galli is the centre of attraction. It was the home of Lord Krishna’s foster father nanda

e) Mahavan – 3 kms
It is associated with the early childhood of Lord Krishna

f) Baldev – 20 kms from Mathura
It is named after the elder brother of Lord Krishna.

g) Nidhivana
The place where Lord Krishna played Rasalila with the Gopis.
